The presence of raw, unburned gas in a house is an explosion and fire risk. We can detect this by using an “electronic nose” which allows us to sniff joints in gas piping and gas valves to check for leaks.

Gas detection meters are extremely sensitive. Leaks can be found which are small enough that there is no practical concern. For this reason, we use these meters as an indicator, rather than a proof of problem. Gas leaks found with these meters will be flagged for further evaluation by a licensed gas fitter.
